Imitation Poem: "Never Shall I Forget" By Elie Wiesel
I wrote an imitation poem based on "Never Shall I Forget" by Elie Wiesel. If you don't know, a imitation poem is a poem that is inspired by another poem or poet, but is not a rewriting of the original work. When I first read "Never Shall I Forget," I found the structure to be interesting, and wanted to recreate my own poem with a similar structure. Enjoy!
Never Shall I Forget (Imitation Poem)
Haley Anzures
Never shall I forget that day.
Never shall I forget the way I fell in love with a book.
Never shall I forget that feeling.
Never shall I forget the feeling I got, as my fingers turned each page with growing anticipation for what was to come.
Never shall I forget those words.
Never shall I forget the words that left me broken for people who don't even exist.
Never shall I forget hours.
Never shall I forget the hours that flew by, while I was fully consumed in another world.
Never shall I forget the nights.
Never shall I forget the nights I stayed up late to read just one more chapter.
Never.
